Post-Meeting Analysis

Very strange meeting. We were told at the beginning that the “board presentation” mentioned on the agenda would not take place. Turns out the presentation was prepared by board Vice President Allan Moore, and since he was a no-show at the meeting, we would hear it “another time.” I can’t help but feel like there is much more to the story there, but hopefully in time we can find out more about what’s going on.

Otherwise, the meeting was very quiet. The only other thing of significance on the agenda was book discards, which was handled with no questions from the board. A few members of the public spoke critically of the board’s actions, and one person spoke in favor of Robert Judge. Otherwise, not much to report.

The board did vote to formally skip their regular meeting in July, so the next regular meeting will be on Monday, August 4 (changed to accommodate the beginning of the school year).

Pre-Meeting Analysis

Not much to add here, given the vagueness of what looks like the only significant agenda item. Louisiana law (R.S. 42:19) states that “Each item on the agenda shall be listed separately and described with reasonable specificity.”  In addition, Louisiana Attorney General Opinion 07-0181 states that agenda items “reasonably clear to provide the public sufficient notice of what subjects will be discussed.” Given the wording of both directives, it seems obvious that this item does not meet that criteria.

Celebrate PRIDE With Us – add LGBTQ+ Books to LPL!

Join us this Pride Month in raising money for LGBTQ+ books at the Lafayette Public Library! Taking advantage of the LPL Foundation’s Endowment Program, we will collect donations throughout the month of June, then use those funds to purchase an endowment in the name of LCAC. For every $1,000 we collect, a book about an LGBTQ topic or with LGBTQ characters will be added yearly to the library’s collections. Want to help? You can do so HERE.

Robert Judge Fundraising Frenzy

In the wake of last month’s bombshell sabotage of the proposed lawsuit settlement with LCG, Robert Judge revealed that he had been informed his legal costs would no longer be covered by the government. Shortly thereafter, he started multiple crowdfunding campaigns under the guise of being a “persecuted Christian man.” Far from being persecuted, however, Judge has a history of intolerance, bigotry, and mean-spirited public activism against the LGBTQ community, actions antithetical to the tenets of Christianity. Of course, we did not hesitate to call out his hypocrisy:
